With roots in our not-so-distant past, we don’t have to go back too far in history to recall the heyday of mid century modern furniture design. Just as the name implies, the aesthetic was born mid-20th century (sometime during the 1940s, lasting until about 1970) when designers began to concentrate on scaled-down forms and clean, sleek lines to help draw a post-WWII America into the modern era.

Whether it’s because we’re taking our cues from popular culture, such as TV’s Mad Men, or perhaps it’s due to the trend toward consignment and second-hand purchases made via eBay and Craigslist, mid century modern is a growing trend once again – and furniture manufacturers have taken notice.

Whether it’s in the living room, bedroom or dining room, just one look at a few of the latest items to arrive at Georgia Furniture Mart makes it plain to see just what it is we love about the mid century modern design trend.
